I don’t really understand the purpose of the follow-up question in the Opening Dialogue (paragraph 50). Especially when the presider and inquirer use their own words and not just what’s prescribed in the rite, I would think it would be sufficient to simply ask the first question. Or maybe there’s something the inquirer is ‘supposed’ to say that the follow-up question leads toward. Any thoughts here? Thanks!
