Cornerstone 3: Teach as Jesus Taught
We say that a lot, but we need to discern honestly if we are teaching as Jesus taught.
Jesus didn’t teach so much by saying things. He taught more often by doing things and then reflecting on what he did (or what the disciples did).
The big shift that many catechumenate ministers need to make is to realize that making disciples happens through an apprenticeship process.
For those who are still focused on a schoolroom model, moving to apprenticeship training can be scary. But every single catechumenate minister who has made the shift reports having
- more confidence
- more Spirit-filled encounters with seekers
- and more joy in their ministry
